Jerri’s Grill is doing everything right– and is a dying breed. 1:15pm on a Saturday afternoon and the second question (after, “Coffee, darlin’?”) was “You want to just sit for a while or are you going to want some food?” The clientele was a mix, with a strong melody of age 50-and-over regulars that instantly resumed their conversations and jabs at one another as soon as they passed through the door, with the occasional descant of 20-somethings that ate relatively quickly, but added a comment or two during their stay. All 7 of us that were there when my waitress, Rosy, ended her shift, sent her home with a unanimous, “Goodbye Rosy!”.
To date, Jerri’s gets my vote for best biscuits and gravy in Chicago; they’re not stingy with them either. They serve Superior brand coffee, brew it strong and keep it coming. My total was $6.37.
